Now more than ever I want to have inspiring words to remind me that I will reach my goal of opening an educational/refill location. So today’s motivational words came to mind as I thought about making a difference in our world. Quick google search led me to this wonderful image and inspiring words by Harriet Tubman. Here’s the deal – we all have the capacity and inner power to change the world. The aspect that separates people from those that do and those that don’t is the passion for change. Does a person really want it, are they willing to wait for the right timing, and finally can they persevere. If I reflect on the historical aspects of Harriet Tubman she lived up to her powerful words and her actions caused a major shift in our society. I personally know that the road to achieving my goal will not be easy, but I’m ready to dispel the accessibility barrier for fellow Bronx residents. And who knows maybe my journey will make it easier for others with the same desires.
As you know we are about to star Plastic Free July. I know some folks are always hesitant to partaking in a challenge that requires them to give up something. Let Harriet Tubman’s words encourage you – to take the first step in reducing your own plastic usage or for the seasoned folks to take your actions up a notch. We have to remember that our individual actions lead to a collective change which ultimately makes the world a better place for all.
