I went to my first official mending event earlier tonight. I was focused on fixing my favorite jeans, which have worn down in the inside leg.
I thought, while traveling to the event, how my respect and care for clothing has experienced positive/negative moments throughout my life. I remembered how in college I cared less if my clothes were properly sorted, where as now I am very particular on sorting. How I have gently cared for my lingerie items ever since my teens. Basically treating expensive (typically higher quality) clothing different from some random low-quality made clothing.
The reflection made me realize that I’ve slowly reduced my selectivity on which clothing items get treated better or worse. That I am treating all clothing the same for I want them to last.
What do you think? Are folks bias in clothing treatment?
