In honor of Black History month, I will share earth-focused quotes by African-Americans as part of Motivation Monday.
Today’s quote is by Heather McTeer Toney, and it comes from an opinion ed article featured in New York Times this past summer. Heather McTeer Toney is the National Field Director for Moms Clean Air Force, and served as a regional administrator for EPA Southeast region during Obama’s presidency.
I wholeheartedly agree with this quote. Our society only seems to recognize one particular group of environmentalists, environmental advocates, or environmental activists. It is disheartening when one knows the role Black, Brown, and Indigenous play in maintaining and protecting Mother Earth.
